Memorial service for John “Johnny” Colson, 73, Edmond, will be held at Jefferson Funeral Home, Lawton, at 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 2nd. John "Johnny" Colson Austin, was born on February 22, 1936 in Lawton, Oklahoma, the son of William Colson Austin and Gladys Kathryn Grey.
After graduating from Lawton High School in 1953 in Lawton Oklahoma, John attended Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor of Animal Husbandry & Nutritional Science.
Daddy always said that he raised three things, Cattle, Crops, and Kids. He lived by the season, from wheat to Alfalfa, to tending to his registered Polled Herefords, John loved farming and being a mechanic.
John was 73 years old at the time of his death. He passed away at Edmond Memorial in Edmond Oklahoma September 29, 2009. Mr. Austin is survived by wife Vickie L. Austin of Duncan, Oklahoma. Surviving children are, Cheryl of Duncan, OK, David of Valparaiso, IN, Becky of Trout Lake, WA, Kathy of Waurika, OK, Janice of Oklahoma City, OK, and J.B. of Sedro Woolley, WA (deceased). Siblings include two sisters, Billie Carol Austin of Denver, CO, and Katherine Lathrop (deceased). John is also survived by twenty two Grandchildren and ten Great Grandchildren.
