Eula L. James-Jackson

LAWTON—Funeral for Eula L. James-Jackson, 74, Lawton will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday December 2nd at Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lawton, with Eld. Daniel Moore, Pastor, officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Lawton. Mrs. Jackson died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Arrangements are under the direction of Jefferson Funeral Home.
She was born December 11, 1934 in Columbia, Mississippi, to H. L. and Esther Maudiez Lewis. She was united in marriage to Elton James and to this union was born four children. She came to Lawton in 1960 after traveling with her husband to several military posts during his 20-year Army career. At the time of her death, she was a faithful member of Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 30 years where she served in numerous capacities including a Sunday school teacher, Bible Study Auxiliary President, church treasurer and church mother.
In 1967 she received an Associate of Art Degree from Cameron College and was employed with Public Company Service Company of Oklahoma for 10 years. She later received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Cameron University in 1979. In 1985, Mrs. Jackson received a Master of Education in Special Education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She retired from Lawton Public Schools in 1997 and was a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two daughters and their spouses: Debra and James Williams, Broken Arrow; Esther and Lamont Slaughter, Lawton; one son-in-law, James Bennett, Lawton; eight grandchildren: Tiffany and Angela Williams; Jehramy, Daniel and Leah Bennett; Winford, Jonathan and Madison Slaughter; two great-grandchildren: Amora Bennett and Daniela Bennett; her mother, Lawton; seven brothers: Odree, Fedro, Henry, Quitman, Robert, Joe, and Lawrence; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; husband; daughter, Myron James-Bennett; and son, Dorsey James.
