LAWTON—Visitation for Isaac Jerome Shider Sr., 63, Lawton, will be Monday January 4th from noon to 7 pm under the direction of Jefferson Funeral Home.  Funeral is Tuesday January 5th at First Baptist Church, Lawton, OK at 11 am.  Mr. Shider died Monday, December 28, 2009 of Natural Causes. Burial will be at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of Jefferson Funeral Home immediately following Funeral Services.

He was born September 8th, 1946, in Ware County Hospital in Waycross, Georgia, to  Isaac Shider and Eldora Cosby.  He moved to Albany Georgia at 2 years old where he attended public school until 1961. In 1967 he joined Suzanne Shider in marriage.
Mr. Shider joined the United States Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam from 1968-1969, served in Europe with Seven (VII) Corp with coalition forces fighting for the liberation of Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991, and retired from the U.S. Army in 1991, at the rank of First/Master Sergeant. He then began working for the State of Oklahoma, Department of Mental Health, Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center, Lawton, OK, as the Supply Officer where he again retired in 2007, and was also the President of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter in Lawton, a Member of the Buffalo Soldiers, and a former Eastside Optimists (Lt. Governor of local Chapter & former Governor at State Level)
Survivors include children and their spouses: Wife Suzanne Shider, Lawton, Son Isaac J. Shider Jr., Lawton, Son Nathaniel W. Shider, Lawton, Mother Eldora Cosby, Albany, GA,, Brother Charles V. Shider, Albany, GA., Sister Ophelia Thompson, Toledo, OH,  a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; his uncle; grandmother, and Susie Mae Crite.
